Bay Country Chorus Concert

Thursday, April 28, 2011, The Bay Country Chorus will generously give the library patrons a FREE concert in the library meeting room. The concert will start at 7pm. Come enjoy this fine group and an evening of family fun.

What book made you laugh out loud?

I honestly haven't read too many books that have made me laugh out loud. I do read a lot of non-fiction which is not typically funny.  But there have been several times while reading books, that my husband, Steve has laughed out loud like while reading Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman. He was forbidden to read it in bed while I was trying to sleep because his laughing shook the bed.  While sailing on their boat, I remember my mother in-law laughing out loud while reading Marley and Me which has a very sad ending, but has several cute and funny scenes in it. 


I liked Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and there were several scenes in the book that made me snicker, but not laugh out loud. The same was true for me while reading Julie and Julia by Julie Powell. Probably the funniest book that I have ever read was A Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs. It is actually a non-fiction book. It's A.J. Jacobs's memoir from a social/spiritual experiment of living according to the literal rules of the The Bible for one year. There were many hysterical scenes in the book and I laughed out loud a few times, but that is one of very few books that have evoked an audible chuckle out of me. I think my literary funny bone is sprained!


I am wondering what books have made people laugh out loud. I have snickered to myself or even smiled, but not laughed the way a movie or TV show can make me laugh. I am ready for some suggestions to help fix my literary funny bone.
